THE CLIENT

Mane (UK) Ltd, a family-owned business that began its journey in the 80s as a cosmetic surgery and hair transplant clinic on Harley Street, London, has become a household name for its Mane Hair Thickening Spray. Originally designed to cover post-surgery scarring and make hair appear thicker, this spray quickly became their star product. Today, Mane’s iconic spray is known worldwide and used by celebrities, TV stars, and regular folks looking for a little follicular boost.

THE BRIEF

Mane approached us at Rak Design with a request that was as refreshing as a cool spritz of hair-thickening spray. Their logo and website were stuck in a time warp – designed in the 80s and in dire need of a modern touch. While nostalgia has its place (neon tracksuits, anyone?), the Mane branding needed a serious upgrade to reflect its present-day reputation as a global leader in cosmetic hair solutions. And let’s not even get started on their packaging, which hadn’t changed since before some of us were born! Mane tasked us with modernizing their identity while staying true to their rich heritage.

OUR APPROACH

We knew that updating such a well-established brand wasn’t going to be easy – it’s like convincing someone to get a new haircut after rocking the same mullet for 40 years. But we were up for the challenge. We approached the project with a balance of respect for Mane’s history and excitement for their future. First, we created several logo and packaging design options, showcasing how their branding could evolve while keeping the spirit of their 80s origins alive. We knew the nostalgia was strong, but we also wanted them to see what was possible – and after some deliberation, the client saw the potential too.

For the website, we gave it a complete makeover, making it sleek, modern, and user-friendly, with all the bells and whistles necessary to attract new customers while keeping loyal ones engaged. And of course, we ensured the online experience was as smooth as their hair-thickening spray.

Since the launch of their new website and refreshed branding, Mane’s sales have increased, and their customers – from everyday users to TV personalities – are loving the modernized look.
