5 things that are driving visitor’s way from your website

You have set up a new website for your business, but you are struggling to attract more customers. The likelihood is that your brand is strong, but your website could be letting the side down and require a facelift.

With there being so many websites on the internet now you do not have to long to catch a new user’s attention and keep them engaged. In fact, you only have a few seconds. Here at Rak Design, we recommend a few tips that you could try- to have a better performing site and stop driving users away from your website.

1. Homepage

The homepage is the most important page on your website. A page that is cramped and cluttered will drive customers away from your site. Your website should be organized and have a clear focal point. This should also reflect the navigation bar as it must be easy to find and most importantly incredibly straightforward to use.

Don’t:

Avoid sliders as much as you can. If you do need them, rotate images at a steady speed so people can view the images. Otherwise, this could seriously drive users away. Instead of sliders, you could try user initiated features like linked images.

2. Navigation bars

Ideally, website navigation bars should be placed at the top of the page and always contain a link to the homepage. The contents should be clear in the menu, and pages should be titled sensibly so visitors can navigate through your site.

Don’t:

Have navigation menus that are unstructured and include broken links. You must make sure your primary pages are clearly shown. This will severely drive visitors away from your site.

3. Social media buttons

Keeping your social media buttons hidden away can be one of the worst things you can do to your brand. If you are brand that is using social media, you should have buttons to your accounts visible and on every page. This will help create a relationship from your site to your social media users.

Don’t:

Your social media buttons should not be hidden away, find some icons that reflect your brand identity. Make sure your links all work and are not broken.

4. Calls to Action

Calls to action are one of the most important things that you must use on your site. You need to tell visitors what they need to do to access the information they are looking for. You must use simple use instructions such as “click here” or “call us”. By doing this, it will make the most out of your website and your services.

Don’t:

Have content that is aimless and does not deliver any information.

5. Photos

A website full of stock photos will not represent the image of your brand. By using photography you have taken yourself or featuring your product/service you will be able to create better engagement with your visitors as you will be creating authenticity in your site.

Don’t:

Use ‘cheesey’ stock photos that do not represent your brand. Use images that will keep your visitors engaged.
