BigCommerce and WordPress Collaboration to scale up eCommerce services

BigCommerce and WordPress have revealed a collaboration focussing on scaling e-commerce. The collaboration will address the need for mid-market and enterprise businesses looking to better blend content and commerce.

WordPress and BigCommerce in July 2018 released their new plugin for WordPress. This allowed WordPress users to use the functions of BigCommerce whilst keeping the flexibility and customization of WordPress. This plugin was aimed at medium and large-sized retailers. With a view to upscaling their e-commerce operation.

Giving in to the consumer:

To give their users exactly what they are looking for. Many small to medium online retailers are using WordPress to back their e-commerce sites. With merchants having access to the features of BigCommerce they are able to scale their business accordingly. By creating their e-commerce shops through WordPress, merchants are able to deliver the experience their users are accustomed to.

Word of mouth:

With the inclusion of BigCommerce, WordPress has been able to grow its audience through its strong online community. This has allowed merchants access to thousands of potential clients just through the WordPress community. This does have its problems, as WordPress is less well known for potential e-commerce users.

Scaling up:

With the new collaboration built for high growth merchants, BigCommerce for WordPress was tested on the WP Engines platform. This ensured the product would meet the needs of all WordPress’ 85,000 global customers. Also, the companies have worked together to help ensure that BigCommerce for WordPress is compatible with WP Engine’s Genesis Framework. It is also compatible with the related suite of StudioPress themes so customers can quickly launch e-commerce stores with a high design quality.
